Importance of A Good Building Energy Rating (BER)

The benefits associated with purchasing an existing house or building a new home that has a building energy rating (BER) are numerous and should not be underestimated below are some of the benefits:

* Reduced running costs   * Maximising resale value  * Better for the environment  * Increased comfort levels.

New Houses

Obtaining the maximum energy rating for your clients new home need not be a very expensive process if it is carefully planned and incorporated into the house design and specification from as early a point as possible in the construction or design process.

Ber Consultants can provide a preliminary building energy rating assessment of your clients dwelling, an energy assessor will visit the property to carry out an energy audit and provide practical advice on how to maximise the building energy rating (BER) of the dwelling.

Remember the earlier in the project we are involved the higher the final energy rating is likely to be.

Existing Houses

A BER is an objective scale of comparison for the energy performance of a building ranging from A1 to G. It is rather like the A to G rating for a household electrical appliance like your fridge. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient and G the least efficient. Therefore prospective purchasers for the first time will be able to see how much the running costs are likely to be for a property, making more energy efficient homes more sought after, maximising resale value. Building Energy Ratings    ( BER's ) are carried out by our specially trained BER assessors, registered by Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
